Jon-Paul Strachan is a soccer enthusiast who grew up playing soccer (football) in Scotland and continued to play on several teams in NC when he moved here in the late 90’s. It wasn’t too long after moving to NC that injuries threatened to stop him from playing the game that he loves. It was around that time that he decided it was time to give something back to soccer and get involved on the coaching side of the game. From 1999 to 2006 he coached challenge soccer with CASL through in the Triangle. His teams won the State Cup, were beaten finalists and also made 3 other appearances in the final four. He has been coaching locally for the past six years and this spring we started the URYSA-Gibsonville Academy program. The program is off to a great start and to ensure its success it is his intention to complete the National Youth License this June, a course that has been developed with children aged 4-12 in mind. He currently hold E and D as well as Youth I and II licenses.
